Virat Kohli : The Second Wall of Team India

After the retirement of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman, there are only two Cricketers who can take place of Rahul Dravid. One is Virat Kohli and another Gujarati Batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. Virat Kohli who is now the vice-Captain of Indian ODI Cricket Team has shown his class of batting. Cheteshwar Pujara still need to show his class of batting. He has played wonderful Cricket in his Career. Before 2009, he has scored 3 triple Centuries and that has made the selectors to select him on regular basis in Test side of Indian Cricket Team.

           Any Team needs

a Strong player, who could hold his nerves and could play a great innings in bad situation. Virat Kohli and Chteshwar Pujara has that talent in them. They could work as a Wall, as Rahul Dravid did, and can play well in bad situation. There are very matches in Cricket History, that talenders have saved the match for the team. If we talk our Indian Cricket Team history, there were many players like C. K Naidu, Vijay Hazare, Vijay Manjrekar, Polly Umrigar, Chandu Borde, Vinod Kambli, Dilip Sardesai, G. Viswahnath, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Azharrudin , Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman have played a great role as a middle order batsman. Other cricketers who are able to handle this middle order batting line up are Mahender Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj singh, Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli.

Rahul Dravid was the player that would come in 3rd or 4th and had played huge good innings at the position. Various times, he was the man to stand firm from one end. That is the big reason he was given title’ The Wall’. After his retirement Indian team wanted that kind of strong man. Virat Kohli has that talent. We have seen very good innings of this person in ODI. It would be very good, if he continue his form in Test Matches as well. It would be pretty interesting to know how he bats in the Coming Newzealand – India test match series.

Virat Kohli has captained Delhi team in Ranji Trophy and in IPL as well. He was the Captain , when they won U-19 World Cup held in Malaysia in 2008. Due to his performance, in that World Cup, he was selected in Indian Cricket Team. After that he didn’t looked backward and scored many Centuries at international Level. This Year is been Wonderful for this Cricket and we hope that he continues playing like this and bring lots of laurels for India.
